Israeli airstrikes hit a Gaza hospital and other sites on Sunday, killing at least 21 people, including children.

While the Israeli military reported intercepting a missile launched from Yemen, which was later claimed by Yemen's Houthi rebels, as reported by the Associated Press.

Attack On Hospital

The pre-dawn attack on Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City was the latest of several assaults on northern Gaza's last major hospital, which provided vital health care.

Citing hospital director Dr Fadel Naim, AP reported that the emergency room, pharmacy and surrounding buildings were severely damaged, affecting over 100 patients and dozens of staff.

"One patient, a girl, died during the evacuation following an Israeli warning because staff were unable to provide urgent care," Gaza's Health Ministry said.

Yemen Airstrike In Israel-Occupied West Bank

According to Reuters, the Israeli military said on Sunday that an attempt to intercept an incoming missile launched from Yemen was likely successful after air raid sirens sounded across Israel.

Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen are targeting Israel, claiming solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The war began when Hamas-led militants attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking 250 hostage. Many were eventually released under ceasefire agreements.

Israeli officials have vowed to pressure Hamas to release the remaining 59 hostages, 24 of whom are believed to be alive, and accept new ceasefire terms after it cut off all supplies to Gaza a month ago.

More than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli retaliatory strikes, according to Gaza's health ministry. The ministry does not distinguish between combatants and civilians in its count but says more than half of the dead are women and children.
