As the chilling details of the Meerut man's gruesome murder continue to shock, another horrifying case has surfaced from Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district where a woman allegedly conspired with her boyfriend and hired a contract killer to kill her husband just two weeks after their marriage.

According to India Today, Pragati Yadav, who had been in a relationship with Anurag Yadav from her village for the past four years, was forced by her family to marry 22-year-old Dilip Yadav on March 5, 2025.

Pragati and Anurag together plotted to kill Dilip as Pragati was unhappy with the marriage. She allegedly told Anurag that Dilip was wealthy and that after his death, they could lead a prosperous life together. Pragati gave Anurag Rs 1 lakh to arrange the murder, and Anurag hired a contract killer, identified as Ramji Nagar, for Rs 2 lakh to carry out the killing.

Dilip was returning from Kannauj district on March 19 and stopped near the Patna Canal at a roadside hotel when two men on motorcycles approached him. They pretended to need help with a stuck vehicle and lured him onto a bike.

Shortly afterwards, Dilip was brutally assaulted and shot, and his body was left in a wheat field. Locals found him in a severely injured state and informed the police. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Dilip succumbed to his injuries after three days of treatment.

The crime came to light when police examined CCTV footage of the nearby areas. The footage revealed crucial evidence, showing Dilip being taken away on a motorcycle. This led to the identification of Ramji Nagar. Acting on the intelligence, police arrested both Ramji and Anurag.

During the interrogation, both men confessed to their roles in the crime, implicating Pragati as the 'mastermind'. A search of the accused revealed country-made pistols and live cartridges. Later, Pragati was also taken into custody.
