Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, who also serves as the Guardian Minister of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, has announced his intention to rename Khuldabad, the location of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb, back to its original name, Ratnapur.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Shirsat explained that he had sent a letter on this matter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. "We may need to introduce a resolution in the upcoming state Assembly session," he added.
Shirsat clarified that this was not a new proposal. "The town was originally known as Ratnapur before Aurangzeb arrived. When he came here, Ratnapur was renamed Khuldabad. Similarly, Devgiri became Khuldabad, and Khidki was renamed Aurangabad. All these 'Bads' emerged after Aurangzeb's time. We are simply seeking to restore the original names," he said.
Khuldabad is a small town located 24 kilometres from the city of Aurangabad — now renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar — and it remains a place of historical significance due to Aurangzeb라이브 바카라 tomb that is marked only by a simple net railing of perforated marble and a small basil plant.
