Zeeshan Siddiqui, former Maharashtra MLA and NCP leader, claimed on Monday that he had received death threats via email.

In the email, allegedly sent by a member of the 'D-Company', Zeeshan Siddiqui was warned that if he didn't pay Rs 10 crore, he would meet the same fate as his late father, Baba Siddiqui, according to the report.

"Since the last three days, I have been receiving emails continuously, with content that 'you would be killed just like Baba Siddique if you don't pay Rs 10 crore'. The sender claimed to be a member of the D-company and warned me not to contact police," Zeeshan Siddique told PTI.

Following Siddique's complaint, the police have launched an investigation into the death threat and extortion demand and are currently recording his statement, PTI confirmed.

The investigation is on, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimit Goel told the press that the Bandra Police Station is currently registering the FIR.

Zeeshan gets multiple death threats over six months

As per the reports, Zeeshan Siddiqui has received multiple death threats over the past six months. These threats are linked to extortion attempts and are believed to be linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which is also involved in his father's murder.

In October last year, 20-year-old tattoo artist Mohammad Tayyab from Noida was arrested for sending eight WhatsApp messages to Zeeshan Siddiqui's office.

Tayyab, who is popularly known as Gufran Khan, claimed that he had heard members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang discussing a plan to harm Siddiqui and actor Salman Khan using drones.

After his father's murder, Zeeshan's security was beefed up, and he was given 'Y' category security. Y category security is provided by the government to individuals who feel that their lives are in danger.
