The main accused in the rape and blackmail case of a female students in a private Bhopal college, was shot and injured after allegedly attempting to escape custody on Friday night.
According to PTI, police said the accused Farhan Ali allegedly attempted to escape after snatching pistol from a policeman.
PTI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Priyanka Shukla told media, Farhan was being escorted by Ashoka Garden police to Bilkisganj to assist in gathering evidence when, at Sarwar village under Ratibad police limits, he asked to relieve himself.
Shukla said Farhan allegedly tried to snatch a sub-inspector라이브 바카라 pistol during the stop. A shot was fired during the scuffle, injuring Farhan라이브 바카라 leg. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered against Farhan and other suspects under sections 64 (rape), 61 (gang rape), and other provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Information Technology Act, and the Freedom of Religion Act.
Ashoka Garden station in-charge Hemant Shrivastava confirmed that Farhan was also assisting police in tracing co-accused Abrar. Two policemen were injured during the incident, Shrivastava added.
The investigation stems from an April 25 complaint by three private college students who accused the men of rape, blackmail, and identity concealment, later joined by two more survivors. NDTV reported that investigators found a video of one survivor on Farhan라이브 바카라 mobile phone, which also featured Abrar. Five accused have been arrested so far for allegedly raping girl students by hiding their identities and blackmailing them by making videos.
As reported by The Hindu, several other women allegedly faced similar assaults but initially refrained from filing complaints due to fear, threats, and intimidation.
The case has triggered protests at 26 locations across Bhopal, with Hindu groups denouncing it as a serious instance of “love jihad.” Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the government will not tolerate “jihad or love jihad” and assured strict action, according to Moneycontrol.
In response, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has established a three-member inquiry panel led by retired IPS officer and former Jharkhand DGP Nirmal Kaur. The panel has been directed to submit its report within 10 days, NCW officials confirmed.
