At least two Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, PTI confirmed.

An encounter broke out between security personnel and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Saturday morning, a senior police official said.

"The gunfight occurred around 9 am in a forest in the Indravati National Park area where a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation," they added.

Last month, at least 22 Naxalites were reported killed during an encounter between security personnel, including one woman Naxalite, who had a Rs 25 lakh bounty in Chhattisgarh.

On March 31, during an encounter, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai informed PTI that a joint operation involving the District Reserve Guard personnel had been launched in the forests of Geedam and Bhairamgarh.

Following the exchange of fire, security forces found the body of a woman Naxalite identified as Renuka, also known as Chaite or Saraswati, a resident of Warangal in neighboring Telangana.
