Operation Sindoor, Ceasefire
India and Pakistan officially downgraded their ties, triggering a tit-for-tat visa cancellation, suspension of bilateral agreements and more. In the aftermath of the attack, several demolitions were carried out across Jammu and Kashmir targeting suspected active militants.
14 days after the attack and a series of demolitions, India launched its response - Operation Sindoor.
The Indian armed forces targeted Sarjal camp in Sialkot, Mehmoona Joya and Markaz Taiba, Muridke, and Markaz Subhanallah in Bahawalpur in Pakistan. In PoK, the targets included Sawai Nala and Syedna Bilal in Muzaffarabad, Gulpur and Abbas camps in Kotli, and Barnala camp in Bhimber.
After a four day period of quickly escalating tensions, US President Donald Trump on May 10 announced a ceasefire between India and Pakistan via X post.
"After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" the post stated.
Following this, officials from India and Pakistan announced ceasefire. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that New Delhi agreed to the truce. Misri added that both sides committed to end firing on land, in the air and sea with effect from 5:00 PM onwards on Saturday.
