Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has finally ended his indefinite fast. The fast, which lasted for 126 days, comes after a mahapanchayat of Samyukt Kisan Morcha(non-political) leaders on Sunday.
As per a PTI report, the mahapanchayat took place at Fatehgarh Sahib Sirhind and focused on Dallewal's fast-unto-death.

Dallewal went on hunger strike on November 26, 2024, as part of an effort to get the Centre to meet with the protesting farmers. On January 18, 2025, he agreed to take medical aid after 50 days of fasting.
Earlier on, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made an appeal to Dallewal and called on the farmer leader to end his hunger strike. The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and senior BJP leader added that the Union government will meet with representatives of farmer organisations on May 4, 2025.
"The ongoing dialogue between the representatives of the Government of India and the representatives of farmers' organizations regarding their demands is continuing. Farmer leader Shri Jagjit Singh Dallewal has now returned from hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery. We also request him to end his hunger strike and we will meet with the representatives of the farmers' organizations for talks at 11 am on May 4 as per the already decided date," Chouhan stated in a post on X.
In March, several farmer leaders, including Dallewal were detained by Punjab Police after their meeting with Union ministers in Chandigarh.
Along with this, several protestors were evicted from the two protest sites - Shambhu and Khanauri - on the Punjab-Haryana border.
