IMD Weather Forecast: Heatwave Alert On For Delhi, North India; Light Showers Likely Across Southern States

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Delhi and northern states as temperatures continue to rise. Meanwhile across southern states, light rain showers are expected.

As per the All India Weather Bulletin issued for April 9, severe heatwave like conditions are expected across Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and more.

Heatwave Alert

As per IMD, heat wave conditions are very likely across West Rajasthan, pockets over Saurashtra and Kutch, East Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

Meanwhile, IMD also added that heatwave conditions will prevail across West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat till April 10.

Light Showers Expected In The South

The IMD has also said states such as Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka and more are expected to witness light rain showers during the week.

These rain showers come due to a well-marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal and an upper air cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra.

Furthermore, an isolated hailstorm is expected over Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

On April 8, heatwave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed over West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, South Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. In Delhi-NCR, severe heat conditions were also recorded with temperatures touching 40 degrees Celsius.
