Amid the heightening tensions between India and Pakistan, a Border Security Force personnel (BSF) lost his life in the line of duty on Saturday morning during cross-border firing in the RS Pura area of Jammu district.
“We salute the supreme sacrifice made by BSF #Braveheart Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz in service of the nation on 10 May 2025 during cross border firing along the International Boundary in R S Pura area, District Jammu”, BSF Jammu confirmed his death on X.
According to the officials, the deceased braveheart officer was leading a BSF border outpost and showed exemplary courage by leading from the front.
It has been reported that the wreath-laying ceremony with full honours will be held on Sunday at Frontier Headquarters Jammu, Paloura.
After four days of constant fighting at the border, India and Pakistan on Saturday agreed to implement an immediate ceasefire following four days of border conflict.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has confirmed India's acceptance of the truce terms.
The agreement comes after India launched Operation Sindoor, a military response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which led to increased hostilities between the two nations.
However, hours after the ceasefire agreement, several drones were located and while sounds of explosions were heard in J&K and other places on Saturday leading to observation of complete blackouts.
