The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has officially announced the withdrawal of Team Nigeria from the 2025 World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China, citing significant delays in visa issuance by Chinese authorities. Despite visas being granted at the last moment, the AFN stated they were issued too late to allow for proper travel and preparation. In a statement, the federation expressed “deep regret” over the missed opportunity, emphasizing that the last-minute clearance left no room for meaningful participation in the prestigious global event.
