J&K: Army Foils Infiltration Bid In Baramulla, 2 Militants Killed

The infiltration bid came less than 24 hours after a deadly terror attack at Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday killed at least 26 people, mostly tourists.

Nearly a day after a Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday. As per the official statement from Chinar Corps, two militants were killed during the operations.

"On 23 Apr 2025, approximately 2-3 UI terrorists tried to infiltrate through general area Sarjeevan at Uri Nala, Baramulla (in north Kashmir)," the Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

The alert troops on the LoC challenged and intercepted the infiltrators, resulting in a firefight, the army said. "The operation is in progress," it added.

Pahalgam Attack: 26 Tourists Killed

The infiltration bid in Baramulla's Uri came less than 24 hours after the deadly terror attack at Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.

The attack on Pahalgam was carried out by a group of militants. The militants opened fire at a group of tourists in baisaran valley on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people, including two foreigners from Nepal and the UAE.

In view of the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut his visit to Saudi Arabia short and arrived in New Delhi early Wednesday morning. Following his return, the PM headed a brief cabinet meeting at the airport to review the security arrangements.
