Madhya Pradesh police on Wednesday reportedly booked BJP leader and Guna councillor Omprakash alias Gabbar Kushwah for allegedly shouting objectionable slogans and indulging in stone pelting while leading a procession in front of a local mosque on April 12, as per a report by The Indian Express.
As per the Express report, Kushwaha later said, “I don’t understand why the administration is targeting me. They are booking me in criminal cases. My people are being booked. The investigation should look at the evidence before booking me in a criminal case.”
As per the police report, the procession, originating from Kolhupura and passing through Colonelganj, allegedly disrupted public order near Madina mosque.
It has been reported that the police were alerted around 4 pm on April 12 about the development following which a team reached the site and found the procession led by the BJP leader, along with associates Monu Ojha, Vishal Annotia, and Sanjay alias Bagga Raghuvanshi.
When asked about the official permission for holding the procession and using a DJ, the group allegedly responded defiantly. The situation further intensified as the BJP leader and 10-15 others allegedly disagreed to comply with police instructions.
Ignoring all efforts to stop the procession, the participants allegedly proceeded to halt in front of the mosque while playing the DJ at high volume and shouting inflammatory slogans targeting a specific community, including remarks like, “You won’t understand like this; we’ll have to send you to Pakistan.”
Based on a complaint, a has been registered against the BJP leader under Sections 191(2), 299, and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for offences including unlawful assembly, hurting religious sentiments, and obstructing public servants
A group of Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers, who allegedly caused a disruption at Hanuman Chauraha in Guna on Monday over the incident, were also booked.
