Mumbai Police have arrested a man from Chembur who allegedly made a threat call to PM Narendra Modi's aircraft ahead of his visit to the United States.
As per news agency ANI, the call was made on Wednesday, warning that terrorists may attack the PM's aircraft.
"On 11th February, a call was received at Mumbai Police control room warning that terrorists may attack PM Modi's aircraft as he was leaving on an official visit abroad. Considering the serious nature of the information, the Police informed other agencies and began an investigation," said Mumbai Police, adding that the man who made the call has been taken into custody.
"The person who made the threat call to the Mumbai Police Control Room has been taken into custody from the Chembur area. He is mentally ill," the police was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
This is not the first time Mumbai police has received a threat call over PM Modi. In December 2024, a threat was sent to the traffic police helpline which alleged of a bomb plot.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in France for a state visit on invitation of President Emmanuel Macron. After co-hosting the AI Summit with Macron, the Prime Minister will conduct bilateral talks and inaugurate the Indian consulate general in Marseilles.
After his France visit, PM Modi will head to the United States to meet with newly elected US President Donald Trump.
