National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Sunday held bilateral talks with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and chaired a conference of top global intelligence officials focusing on ways to enhance cooperation in dealing with various security challenges, PTI confirmed.

Gabbard will also address the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi on Tuesday. The Raisina Dialogue is India's annual flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics.

Doval and Gabbard discussed ways to strengthen intelligence sharing and work closely in sync with the India-US global strategic partnership.

PTI quoted top sources as saying it was a "good discussion."

Head of Canadian Spy Chief Also Attended Event

Canadian spy chief Daniel Rodgers also attended the conference.

The visit of Rogers, the head of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), to India comes amid strained relations between the two countries over the Hardeep Singh Nijjar case.

The ties between India and Canada came under severe strain following the then Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations in September 2023 of the "potential" involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Nijjar on Canadian soil.

As of now, the Indian government has not released any press release or statement on the deliberations held behind closed doors

Intelligence chiefs of Australia, Germany, New Zealand and several other friendly countries of India were learnt to have attended the conclave.

It is Gabbard's second foreign trip after assuming charge as the US intelligence chief. During her first international trip, Gabbard travelled to Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference last month.
