Over 200 Indian passengers were left stranded in Turkey after a Virgin Atlantic flight from London had to make an emergency landing. The Mumbai-bound plane stopped at Turkey's Diyarbakir Airport (DIY), leaving the passengers stranded for over 16 hours.
As per a News18 report, landed at the airport due to a medical emergency. The report added that the Passengers stated that plane developed a technical glitch while attempting to land.
“Emergency landing was made as one passenger had a panic attack. The airport in Turkey is not efficient enough to handle the aircraft,” the report quoted a passenger saying.
Passengers further added that they were not given many details and remained unclear about alternate routes as Virgin Atlantic had not announced any.
“We’ve not received accommodations and we can’t even leave the airport as this is a military base," the passenger further told News18.
SpiceJet Flight Delayed By Over 6 Hours
In another incident, over 200 flyers on two SpiceJet flights from Pune to Delhi and Delhi to Pune were left stranded after the flights were delayed by over six hours.
Many of the flyers were on the plane to celebrate Gudi Padwa, but due to the six-hour delay, many missed the festivities.
As per a TOI report, the Delhi to Pune flight was set to take off at 9:20 AM, but actually took off at 3:40 PM. Meanwhile, the Pune to Delhi flight was set to land at 11:30 AM, but passengers landed around 5:30 PM.
