According to reports, a terror attack took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people and injuring several others.

Here's some of the most significant incidents in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few years:
November 3, 2024: Grenade Attack
A grenade attack occurred at the Sunday Market near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) on Residency Road, close to Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, injuring 12 civilians. The attack, carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants, targeted a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker but missed, with the grenade exploding on the crowded roadside, causing splinter injuries.
Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three LeT affiliates—Usama Yasin Sheikh, Umar Fayaz Sheikh, and Afnan Ahmed—on November 8, who were booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
October 20, 2024: Ganderbal Attack
Seven people, including a local doctor and six laborers, were killed in a terrorist attack at a construction site near an under-construction Z-Morh tunnel in Ganderbal.Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot, claimed responsibility of the attack.
June 9, 2024: Reasi Attack
Terrorists attacked a 53-seater bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Nine people, including the driver, conductor, a two-year-old child and a 14-year-old teenager, were killed in this attack, while 41 others were injured.
The Resistance Front (TRF), associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, initially claimed responsibility for the attack but later denied involvement in it.
Apart from this, other groups like the People's Anti-Fascist Front and Revival of Resistance also denied involvement in the attack. Jammu and Kashmir Police suspect Lashkar-e-Taiba's hand in this attack.
June 27, 2021: Drone Attack at Jammu Air Force Station
A drone-based attack targeted the technical area of Jammu Airport, which is under the control of the Indian Air Force (IAF). Two low-intensity explosions were reported, causing minor damage but no casualties.
February 14, 2019: Pulwama Attack
A Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber attacked a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Pulwama, killing 40 personnel. This was one of the deadliest attacks on security forces in the region in recent decades.
The attack emerges tension between India and Pakistan, leading to retaliatory airstrikes by India in Balakot, Pakistan, and heightened military activity along the Line of Control (LoC).
February 10, 2018: Sunjuwan Attack
Militants belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed attacked the Sunjuwan Army Camp in Jammu, killing at least six soldiers and one civilian. The attack took place in the early hours, targeting the residential quarters of the camp.
September 18, 2016: Uri Attack
Four heavily armed JeM militants attacked an Indian Army brigade headquarters in Uri, near the Line of Control, killing at least 19 soldiers. The attack occurred in the early morning, with the militants using grenades and automatic weapons.
The Uri attack was a major escalation, leading to India's "surgical strikes" across the LoC into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, targeting militant launchpads.
