Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has claimed that he has not been allowed to speak during the ongoing Parliament session. Following his claim, several Congress MPs met with Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla to discuss this "denial of opportunity."
Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament, Gandhi was quoted as saying - "I don't know what is going on... I requested him (the Speaker) to let me speak, but he just ran away and did not let me speak. This is no way to run the House."
As per news agency ANI, Gandhi added that he sought to speak about the upcoming Maha Kumbh mela and the growing problem regarding unemployment, but was not allowed to do so.
"I did nothing, I was quietly sitting. Yet, whenever I stand up, I am prevented from speaking. There is no place for democracy here," he said.
Congress MPs Meet Om Birla
As per reports, Congress라이브 바카라 deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi; general secretary K C Venugopal; whip Manickam Tagore; and 70 other MPs met with Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla.
This meeting occurred after Birla called on Rahul Gandhi to adhere to the rules of the house.
What Did Om Birla Say?
Following Rahul Gandhi's claims, Om Birla asked Gandhi to follow the rules of the procedure and "uphold the dignity of the house"
"Several instances have come to my notice where the conduct of members does not conform to the high standards," said Birla.
"In this House, father and daughter, mother and daughter, husband and wife have been members. In this context, I expect the Leader of the Opposition to conduct himself in accordance with Rule 349 that deals with rules to be observed by members in the House," the Speaker added
