Parts Of Delhi See Massive Dust Storm, 1 Dead, Flights Diverted

Gusty winds and a massive dust storm swept through the national capital and nearby areas on Friday evening. Several people took to X and shared video of the storm which turned the sky to dusty.

The storm significantly reduced visibility and disrupted traffic, as thick clouds of dust enveloped parts of Delhi and Noida.

A day earlier, on Thursday, light rainfall was also reported in some areas of the capital.

One person died and two injured after a wall of an under-construction building collapsed in Delhi's Madhu Vihar PS area during the dust storm, HT reported.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in Delhi. The prediction says, Bangalore will also witness rainfall today.

As per ANI, a total of 15 flights were diverted, and several were delayed at the Delhi airport on Friday due to dust storms and gusty winds.

Though no sign of relief can be seen in Mumbai as IMD has issued ‘yellow alert’ in Mumbai and some other districts of Maharashtra. The weather in Kolkata will remain partly cloudy today.

IMD Weather Update

The Regional Weather Forecasting Agency (RWFA) has predicted cloudy weather with the minimum temperature between 23 to 25 degree celsius and the maximum temperature of 36 to 38 degree celsius. The sky will remain partly cloudy today and some parts of Delhi will witness rain with thunderstorms.
