Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a telephonic conversation with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and talked about various topics, including potential collaboration in the field of technology and innovation.
After talking with Musk, the PM tweeted on his microblogging platform, X: 'Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in technology and innovation.
"India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains," he added.
In February, following the meeting between Modi and Musk in Washington DC, Musk's company, Tesla Inc., appeared to be making strides in India, with Bloomberg reporting that the company posted 13 job openings in the country.
However, PM Modi's post did not offer any specific information about Tesla's India plans.
Meanwhile, the talks come at a time when India is in talks with the Trump administration to secure a trade deal that would mitigate the worst consequences of the tariff dispute.
The Trump administration is set at 26 per cent tariffs, alongside other countries with the highest tariffs, including Taiwan with 32 per cent, South Korea with 26 per cent, and Japan with 24 per cent.
