Sole Earning Member Of Adhikari Family Dies In Pahalgam Terror Attack

Speaking to reporters, Adhikari's father mentioned that his son used to send money for food and medicines for his parents and now they don't know how will they survive in the future financially.

'Sob Shesh' (Everything is over), Bireswar Adhikari, the father of deceased Bitan Adhikari, kept uttering these words on the afternoon of April 23, as he awaited to see his son for the last time.

Bitan Adhikari (40), an IT professional who hailed from Kolkata, was one of the victims of the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. Adhikari had gone to visit Kashmir for a family vacation with his wife and son and was scheduled to return home on April 24, but he came back a day earlier, in a coffin.

Adhikari was working at Tata Consultancy Services and was posted in Florida, United States while due to passport related issues, his wife Sohini Roy, 35 and their son Hridaan, 3 were staying at their residence in Baishnabghata. Adhikari had come to Kolkata on April 8 on the occasion of Bengali New Year and embarked on their spontaneous trip to Kashmir on April 16.

At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in the terror attack on Tuesday in Pahalgam. Adhikari라이브 바카라 parents say he was the sole earning member of the family and his death has left the ailing septuagenarians shattered.

Speaking to reporters, Adhikari's father mentioned that his son used to send money for food and medicines for his parents and now they don't know how will they survive in the future financially. As of April 23, the family had not heard about any financial assistance from the Central government.

The Jammu and Kashmir government on April 23 had sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased victim.

What Happened To Bitan Adhikari?

Shankar Chakrabarti, Bitan Adhikari's uncle, shared some details about how his nephew was killed in the terror attack.

Chakrabarti first heard about the incident on TV on April 22 and as he knew that Adhikari and his family was in Jammu and Kashmir for the vacation, he thought about them and hoped that they were safe, until he got a call from his relatives saying that Adhikari's name was flashing on the news channels.

He said, "My hands started shaking". He lives in Behala area of Kolkata, near Adhikari's parent's house. Chakrabarti said that he immediately went to Adhikari's parent's house and brought them with him so they can stay near loved ones at a time like this.

Chakrabarti said Adhikari was shot at more than once and from what he heard, the third bullet hit Adhikari's heart and he succumbed right at the spot. A teary-eyed Chakrabarti said, "I don't know how will I face my sister and brother-in-law (Adhikari's parents) when his body comes today evening. How can you console someone who lost their child?"

Chakrabarti also stated, "The Centre should help the ailing parents, how will they manage their expenses at this age?"

Another uncle of Bitan Adhikari, Adhir Goswami, said that he had been a brilliant student, who loved to sing, play instruments and was a lively person. Goswami's daughter had spoken to Adhikari a day before the attack and they had never imagined seeing his face on social media the next day with this news.

Goswami said that Adhikari's wife, Sohini Roy, was not doing well and was in deep trauma. Adhikari's other relatives also reiterated that Roy was still in shock and was screaming that "everything is over" whenever she was contacted. Adhikari's body was brought to the Baishnabghata residence on April 23 directly from the airport where the city's mayor Firhad Hakim and Bengal minister Arup Biswas received the family. Adhikari's parents were brought to the residence to see their son's body, which lay in a closed coffin.
