Tahawwur Rana is being extradited to India after 14 years in the United States. He was sentenced for his involvement in the 26/11 terror attacks in 2013 but in 2020 the US released Rana on "compassionate grounds."
Following his release in 2020, India once again filed a request for extradition, which was approved by a US court in 2023. In February 2025, Rana's extradition was approved by US President Donald Trump.
However, in response to this, Rana filed an emergency plea, citing the risk of torture and health issues, which was denied by the US Supreme court.
Rana was convicted for providing material support to banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, who were responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks of 2008 which killed over 174 people.
