A 13-year-old student in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore was asked to sit outside her classroom to write her exam after the school authorities got to know that she was menstruating. The district school education department has conducted a probe into the incident.
As per reports, headmistress of the higher secondary school in Senguttaipalayam village has been suspended.
The mother of the student reportedly requested the school for special arrangements as it was her first period and it followed an unexpected treatment from the authorities.
Video Surfaces
The student's mother has reportedly recorded a video that showed her writing the exam on a staircase and it became viral on social media with several netizens condemning the school.
According to Indian Express, in the video, the girl, who belongs to the Arunthathiyar community, purportedly explains that she was barred from entering her classroom after her teacher informed the principal that she had attained puberty.
The mother of the girl could be heard from background sayin, “If someone gets their period, does that mean they cannot sit inside the classroom and write their exams?” she added, “Should they sit on the road and write?”
Family Questions; Probe Ordered
Reportedly, the school management had placed the headmistress under suspension till the inquiry by the education department is complete.
The school education department conducted a preliminary probe and police found that the girl라이브 바카라 mother had simply requested separate arrangements for the girl to write the exam because it was her first period.
A senior police officer was quoted by Indian Express saying, “Initial inquiry revealed that the mother had been aware of the arrangement."
He further said, "The girl, currently in Class VIII, began menstruating on April 5. She was made to take her science exam on April 7 and her social science paper on April 9 while seated on a staircase. While the school insists the decision was based on the mother라이브 바카라 preference, the mother was offended at seeing her daughter writing the exam without even a desk."
He added, "We have issued a show-cause notice in parallel to the probe by the school education department."
