A 25-year-old employee of a software company committed suicide at her Telangana home, purportedly as a result of her husband's dowry harassment, India Today reported.
A lawsuit has been filed against the husband, Sharath Chandra, for the incident that happened in a Hyderabad neighborhood. Devika, who passed away, married Chandra in Goa six months ago. Her family claims that she endured constant physical and psychological abuse in exchange for a larger dowry. She committed herself by hanging herself at their Raidurgam village home in Prashanti Hills on March 2. Sharath Chandra informed her relatives and the authorities after finding her body.
Later, Ramalakshmi, Devika's mother, complained to the police about her son-in-law allegedly pestering her daughter for a dowry. The Raidurgam police have started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death and filed a case in response to the complaint.
For a post-mortem investigation, Devika's body has been taken to Osmania Hospital. Devika's passing occurs barely one day after another terrible event in Telangana, in which a Medak district first-year intermediate student committed herself, allegedly as a result of stress following an exam.
The youngster, who was studying at a private institution in Hyderabad, had come home for the Shivaratri celebration. On February 1, her parents took her back to Medak with the intention of moving her to a different school because she was struggling with a lack of interest in her studies and concern about her impending examinations.
