Vice President and ex-officio chairman of the Rajya Sabha Jagdep Dhankhar used strong words against the judiciary saying that the apex court "has become a nuclear missile against democratic forces, available to the judiciary 24x7."

The statement came days after the bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan issued a ruling against the Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, putting a wider time limit on the President to assent to bills sent by state Governors within three months.

“We never bargained for democracy for this day. President being called upon to decide in a time-bound manner, and if not, becomes law,” he said. “Where are we heading as a country?”

The Vice President was addressing the 6th batch of Rajya Sabha interns, and went on to mention the Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma라이브 바카라 case. Huge amounts of cash was found by the fire marshalls when they reached his residence to douse a fire last month.

“For seven days, no one knew about it. We have to ask questions to ourselves. Is the delay explainable? Condonable? Does it not raise certain fundamental questions?”, he said, adding that the news was only disclosed on March 21 by a newspaper.

He questioned why there was no FIR against Judge Varma when only the state Governors and the President of India are accorded immunity from prosecution by the Indian Constitution. “But if it is Judges, their category, FIR cannot be straightaway registered. It has to be approved by the concerned in the Judiciary, but that is not given in the Constitution," he said.

“We cannot have a situation where you direct the President of India and on what basis? The only right you have under the Constitution is to interpret the Constitution under Article 145(3),” the Vice President said, hinting at the judges handing out rulings. He said Article 142 has become a weapon to install special power to the Supreme Court.

Article 142 of the Indian Constitution empowers the Supreme Court to pass orders necessary to deliver “complete justice” in any case before it. Commonly referred to as the Court라이브 바카라 “plenary power,” this provision allows it to take extraordinary measures beyond the confines of statutory law when required.
