The series is tied 1-1 and the winner of the third game will clinch the T20 leg of the tour. Zimbabwe had won the first game by four wickets, but the Afghans bounced back in style with a 50-run victory on Friday.
The visitors put 153 runs on the board after winning the toss and electing to bat first, with Darwish Rasooli top-scoring with 58 runs off 42 deliveries. In response, Zimbabwe were bundled out for 103 runs in 17.4 overs, as captain Rashid Khan and medium-pacer Naveen-ul-Haq bagged three wickets apiece for the winning team.
Rasooli, who has played eight T20Is for Afghanistan so far, was named the Player of the Match for his crucial half-century.
The T20I series will be followed by a three-match ODI series at the same venue, and then a two-Test series in Bulawayo.
