IPL 2025: New Captains To Lead Their Teams

Key Rule Changes For IPL 2025
Saliva Ban Revoked: The BCCI has lifted the saliva ban, allowing bowlers to shine the ball for the first time since COVID-19. Despite the ICC making the ban permanent in 2022, IPL captains backed its removal in a landmark decision.
'Conditional' Second New Ball In 2nd Innings: Evening matches will feature a ‘conditional’ second new ball from the 11th over if dew is significant, though this won’t apply to afternoon games.

IPL 2025 Sets Super Over Time Limits: In IPL 2025, Super Overs will continue until a winner is decided within a one-hour limit. The first starts within 10 minutes, subsequent ones after five. Teams get one unsuccessful DRS per Super Over, and penalties carry over.
The batting order reverses if another Super Over is needed, with new batters and bowlers each time. The same ball is reused unless changed, and fielding restrictions match the final over. If unfinished, the match is a tie.

Are There Any Changes In The IPL 2025 format?
The format for IPL 2025 remains unchanged, with teams following the same structure as last season. Delhi Capitals will continue to play their home matches in Delhi and Visakhapatnam, Punjab Kings in Mullanpur and Dharamsala, and Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur and Guwahati. The other seven teams will have a single home base.
The ten teams are divided into two virtual groups:
Group A: Chennai Super Kings, KKR, Rajasthan Royals, RCB, Punjab Kings
Group B: Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants
Each team will face others in their group twice, play one team from the opposite group twice based on seeding, and face the remaining four teams from the other group once. This ensures a total of 14 matches, seven at home and seven away. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.
IPL 2025 Match Timing
All evening matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST, while afternoon games, including 12 double-headers, will start at 3:30 PM IST.
