The Govinda Poddar-led Odisha are winless in three outings. In their campaign opener against Vidarbha, they put up a good fight chasing a 217-run target. Odisha fell short by 33 runs despite an 80-run opening stand from Swastik Samal (63) and Gourav Choudhury (37).
In the second match, they failed to defend 194/5 even though Samal earned the consolation prize of POTM for his 63-ball 105. And against Puducherry, they lost by 16 runs in a truncated six-over game.
Chhattisgarh have so far been blowing hot and cold. In the opener, they suffered a six-wicket defeat against Chhattisgarh while defending 166/7. But they beat a strong Railways side by three wickets, chasing down a 160-run target in a final-over thriller.
Against Chandigarh, they capitulated despite posting a respectable total of 176/9. Skipper Amandeep Khare utilised six bowlers including tearaway fast bowler Mayank Yadav only to see Chandigarh complete the chase in 16.4 overs.
