Ishan Kishan came to bat at number three for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and played an unbeaten knock of 106 runs in his first match for the new franchise to help them set a big target of 287 runs for Rajasthan Royals in match 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday. Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad witnessed a flurry of boundaries when the destructive batting side of SRH managed to score the biggest score of the new season thanks to the half-century of Travis Head and maiden IPL ton of Ishan Kishan.
Kishan hits 11 fours and six sixes in his impressive knock. He mainly targeted the seam bowlers Jofra Archer and Fazalhaq Farroqi for hitting big runs. He hit Archer for a hat-trick of sixes in his second over of the match.
SRH bought Ishan Kishan for INR 11.25 crore in the IPL Mega Auction last year when Mumbai Indians did not retain him. He completed his half-century with a six and reached his maiden IPL ton with a double followed by a big six.
This was his maiden IPL century and it came in the opening game of the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 18th season. He came to bat in the fourth over after the dismissal of the opener batter Abhishek Sharma.
He found boundaries in almost every over and never let the scoreboard halt. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen also made runs in the 30s to help their team set a big total.
This is also the first hundred of the 18th season and Kishan is leading the list of highest run-scorer in just his first match. He also became the first Indian batter to score a century for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
This is the second-highest total in the history of the IPL. The first one also came from SRH in the last season when they made 287 against RCB in 2024.
