Amid the tensions between India and Pakistan, in Jammu and Kashmir's Nagrota, a possible infiltration bid was thwarted. As per the official statement from the India Army White Knight Corps, an alert sentry thwarted the infiltration bid, triggering a brief exchange of fire with the intruder.
The sentry sustained minor injuries. However, as the suspect escaped, a search operation was launched.
"On noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, the alert sentry at Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. Sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s)," the White Knight Corps said on X.
Earlier in the day, fake news regarding a terrorist attack at the Nagrota camp had been shared. However, this alert was deemed fake by the government of India and PIB's fact check unit.
This developing came after Pakistan violated its ceasefire understanding with India. Hours after agreeing to a complete ceasefire brokered by the US, Pakistan reoortedly fired rones across the Line of Control and International Border.
Due to this, a complete blackout was enforced across Jammu and Kashmir, and parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
At 11 PM, the Indian government confirmed that Pakistan had violated the ceasefire understanding and urged Islamabad to take appropriate action to reel back in.
"For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan. This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we take very, very serious note of these violations," said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
