The much-awaited trailer of Prithviraj Sukumaran's directorial, L2: Empuraan, was released at around 2 am on March 20. The 3-minute and 50-second trailer shows Mohanlal's character Stephen Nedumpally's return as the saviour of his land. The film will hit the screens on March 27.
Sharing the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada trailer of L2: Empuraan, Prithviraj wrote, "Remember..it's YOU who summoned the DEVIL at this hour! (sic)."
Empuraan trailer begins with a voice-over by PK Ramdas. He says that his children are not his successors, but those who follow his path are more important to him than his children. Audiences are then introduced to Tovino Thomas' character Jathin Ramdas who apparently leads the Ramdas party.
We also get glimpses of other cast including Suraj Venjaramoodu and Aamir Khan's sister Nikhat Khan, who play politicians. Manju Warrier who plays Priya Ramdas talks about her daughter being the only hope in her life.
Then we are taken to sequences of drug cartels and Jihadi groups who are against K-A (Khuresh Ab'raam). After almost a minute, there is a mass entry by Mohanlal who plays Khureshi Ab’raam, also known as Stephen Nedumpally. His dashing entry has set the internet on fire.
There is also a sneak-peek into Prithviraj's Zayed Masood character and his scenes with Mohanlal have increased the excitement among fans.
The trailer ends on a cliffhanger note as Indrajith Sukumaran's Govardan wants Stephen to return to God's own land, and asks him, ''Who are you?'' To which Mohanlal, replies, ''Lucifer''.

Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. Produced by Lyca Productions, Aashirvad Cinemas, and Sree Gokulam Movies, the action political thriller will be released in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada. It promises to be a grand spectacle with powerful dialogues, a star-studded cast, and a gripping plot.
Murali Gopy has written the script, Sujith Vaassudev has served as the director of photography and Akhilesh Mohan as the editor. Deepak Dev has composed the music.
Empuraan also stars Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, Sachin Khedekar and Alexx O'Nell among others.
Meanwhile, it has become the first-ever Malayalam movie to be released on IMAX.
