Aam Admi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that his party would launch a special scheme for the priests and granthis once returned to power.
The scheme called ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana’ promises a monthly allowance of Rs 18,000 for Hindu temple priests and granthis of gurdwaras.
“Under Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana, an honorarium will be given to the priests of temples and the 'granthis' of the Gurudwara every month. They will be given an honorarium of about Rs 18,000 per month” Kejriwal said.
The announcement was made while Kejriwal addressed a press conference along with Delhi CM Atishi and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.
This comes ahead of the highly anticipated Delhi Assembly election, expected to be held in February 2025. AAP is seeking to retain power for a fourth consecutive term with this election.
