JD Vance India Visit: PM Modi, VP Vance Discuss 'Mutually Beneficial' India-US Trade Agreement

The meeting between PM Modi and VP Vance concluded with the leaders welcoming the significant progress in the negotiations for a mutually beneficial India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement, PIB said in a release.

PM Modi fondly recalled his visit to Washington DC in January 2025 and his fruitful discussions with US President Donald Trump, which laid down the roadmap for close cooperation between India and the US, leveraging the strengths of Make America Great Again (MAGA) and Viksit Bharat 2047, the release said.

Additionally, PM Modi and VP Vance reviewed and positively assessed the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation.

"They welcomed the significant progress in the negotiations for a mutually beneficial India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement focused on the welfare of the people of the two countries. Likewise, they noted continued efforts towards enhancing cooperation in energy, defence, strategic technologies and other areas," the release said.

The two leaders also exchanged views on various regional and global issues of mutual interest, and called for dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward.

Additionally, PM Modi conveyed his warm greetings to President Trump and said that he looked forward to his visit to India later this year.

Security has been stepped up across the national capital in view of the arrival of US Vice President J D Vance and Indian-origin second lady Usha on Monday morning, an official said on Sunday.

The US vice president, his wife Usha and their three children -- Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel -- are scheduled to land at the Palam airbase at 10 am on Monday on a four-day India visit.

"We have already conducted mock drills according to the security protocol for the high level visit of the US vice president. Security has been tightened across different areas of Delhi to ensure that everything goes smoothly and no untoward incident happens during the visit," a senior police officer said.

“The visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to review the progress in bilateral relations and the implementation of the outcomes of the India-U.S. Joint Statement issued on February 13, 2025, during the visit of the Prime Minister to the US,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

He also said that European leaders were stone deaf to the concerns of ordinary citizens on immigration and the importance of preserving national identity. Vance, like most of Trump라이브 바카라 cabinet picks, has constantly promoted the conservative worldview of the president.

This was apparent in his Munich speech and during the explosive interaction with Ukraine라이브 바카라 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the public White House spat in February that tore apart US support for Ukraine and stunned European allies.

US Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha Vance and their three children, visits the Akshardham Temple in Delhi.

India and the US expect to ink a framework for defence partnership this year, while India also plans to procure and co-produce arms including Javelin anti-tank guided missiles and Stryker infantry combat vehicles, according to a joint statement issued after the February meeting between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump, reported Reuters.

On their visit, showroom Manager Meetu Wazirani said, “This is a handloom handicraft emporium. They liked everything. They were short of time, but they spent almost 40-45 minutes. They bought tea, honey, papier-mâché items, wooden items and pottery. And they appreciated the goods. They were very humble and soft-spoken. She bought whatever the kids said.”

US Vice President JD Vance will visit the Amber Fort in Jaipur and deliver an address on US-India relations at Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) on Tuesday.

Vance will arrive in Jaipur in a special plane at 9.30 pm and will stay at the hotel Rambagh Palace. He will reach Amber Fort at 9 am on Tuesday. He will address an event at the RIC at 3 pm.
