Samata Party's Jharkhand unit meanwhile expressed its readiness to quit theruling coalition in the state if the central leadership of the party finallydecides to quit the NDA at the centre on the Manipur issue.

Talking to reporters at the Birsa Munda airport here today on his return fromNew Delhi, the JPSP president Ramesh Singh Munda said the state unit of theparty was waiting for the decision of party leader George Fernandes who has beenauthorised by the national executive of the party to take a final decision inthis regard.

"If the central leadership of the party decides to quit the NDA we willalso do the same in Jharkhand," Munda said.

Munda, who is also the excise minister, however, ruled out any alliance withthe main opposition, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, to provide an alternativegovernment in the newly created state.

"Nothing can induce us to go along with the JMM, we would rather prefersitting in the opposition in the Jharkhand assembly than going with a partywhich has a dubious track record," he said.

JMM chief Sibu Soren had appealed to the Samata earlier in the day to quitthe NDA and join hands with the JMM to provide an alternative government inJharkhand.

The Samata Party has five MLAs in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly who areall ministers in the Babulal Mrandi cabinet.
