After the controversial Waqf (amendment) bill was passed in the Lok Sabha in the midnight hours of April 2, members of the opposition parties slammed the bill. Some of the top leaders said that the bill is aimed to target the Muslim community and their existence in the country. A few leaders even highlighted that the nature of the bill establishes a precedent that could be used to target other communities and religious minorities.

What Did The Opposition Say?

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on X wrote that the bill is a weapon aimed at marginalising Muslims and usurping their personal laws and property rights.

“This attack on the Constitution by the RSS, BJP and their allies is aimed at Muslims today but sets a precedent to target other communities in the future. The Congress party strongly opposes this legislation as it attacks the very idea of India and violates Article 25, the Right to Freedom of Religion,” Gandhi said.

While participating in the debate over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in Lok Sabha, Owaisi alleged that Muslims would be treated unfairly through the Waqf Bill.

"This Bill is an attack on Muslims. The Modi government has started a war on my freedom. My mosques, my Dargahs, my Madrasas are on target. This government is not revealing the truth. This Bill violates Article 14- Equal Protection. Limitations will be imposed. By doing so, the encroacher will become the owner, and a non -Muslim will administrate the Waqf Board. This Bill also violates Equality For Law," ANI quoted Owaisi as saying.

TMC라이브 바카라 Mahua Moitra said that the Waqf Bill is a dividing factor for the Muslim community. “ The bill tells every Indian Muslim “You are not an equal citizen of India, know your place, your rights are not the same as ours.” Never felt so sad, so ashamed as I did in Lok Sabha yesterday,” Moitra said to ANI.

Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi termed the Waqf (amendment) Bill as a ‘brazen assault’ on the constitution on Thursday. She also stated, “The bill was in effect bulldozed through.”

She addressed the bill as BJP라이브 바카라 deliberate strategy to keep the society in a state of permanent polarization.

Vanchit Bahujan Agadi chief and grandson of Babasaheb Ambedkar, Prakash Ambedkar said that the bill has set a dangerous precedent not just for the Muslim community but for other communities too. “The Bill targets Muslims today but establishes a precedent that could be used to target other communities and religious minorities, particularly the Dalits, Adivasis and the Buddhists, in the future.

It라이브 바카라 also very disappointing that the Lok Sabha, in the early hours of Thursday, adopted a Statutory Resolution confirming the imposition of President's rule in Manipur, which tells us how much the BJP cares about the man-made-crisis-hit state,” Ambedkar said on X.
