Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has become the target of online abuse after announcing the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan. The decision, which ended a four-day standoff that brought India and Pakistan to the edge of open conflict, did not sit well with a section of netizens who viewed it as a missed opportunity to escalate tensions further with Pakistan.
Misri faced insults such as “Traitor,” “Gaddar,” and “Deshdrohi.” One user wrote, “If Vikram Misri has any self-respect left then he should resign immediately.” Another said, “You made your offspring settle outside of India before prostrating and offering your head to Pakistan. Shameful. Absolutely shameful.”
His family was not spared either. One daughter라이브 바카라 phone number was posted online, alongside inappropriate comments and abusive language. Some of the criticism came from her legal work related to ‘humanitarian’ cases involving Rohingya refugees in Myanmar.
Misri came into the public eye as the Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for his role in the daily government briefings following the launch of the military operation "Operation Sindoor," conducted on 8–9 May 2025. Along with Col Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Misri became the face of India라이브 바카라 response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent military escalation.
On Saturday, Misri announced that India and Pakistan had reached a ceasefire understanding, effective from 5 PM. In his evening briefing, he said, "The Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan called the Director General of Military Operations of India at 1535 hours IST earlier today." He added, "It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, in the air and at sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time today."
Misri라이브 바카라 press statement followed the news of the ceasefire, first shared by U.S. President Donald Trump on Truth Social. Later in the evening, Misri issued another press statement, saying that Pakistan had “violated the understanding agreed to this evening,” after drones were intercepted over parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Amid the abusive comments, Misri has also locked his X (formerly Twitter) account. The abuse has sparked outrage among several users and public figures. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi wrote on X: “Mr Vikram Misri is a decent and an Honest Hard working Diplomat working tirelessly for our Nation. Our Civil Servants work under the Executive. This must be remembered & they shouldn’t be blamed for the decisions taken by The Executive /or any Political leadership running Watan E Aziz.”
Congress Kerala's official X handle also came in Misri's defence in a statement that read, "They're targeting Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, as though he unilaterally decided on the ceasefire, not Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh or Jaishankar."
Misri is the 35th Foreign Secretary of India since July 2024. He has previously served as private secretary to former Prime Ministers Inder Kumar Gujral, Manmohan Singh, and Narendra Modi. Misri, who hails from Srinagar and belongs to a Kashmiri Hindu family, has also served as India라이브 바카라 ambassador to Spain and Myanmar.
