The India-Pakistan conflict appears to be spinning out of control. While neither India nor Pakistan wants a full scale war, the situation is getting out of hand and the nuclear armed neighbours may willy-nilly be drawn into a full blown war. With Pakistan now launching a massive drone attack on Jammu airport and persistent artillery fire all along the border the situation is grim. The overnight exchange of artillery fire, drone attacks and taking aim on military installations has led to a massive escalation.
Briefing journalists, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that there was a lot of talk on "escalation" and reminded the world that the "original escalation" was the terror attack on April 22.’’
India was reacting to Pakistan라이브 바카라 provocation. India라이브 바카라 point is that Pakistan triggered the crisis, India was merely reacting to what was done. "India has every right to respond to a terror attack and the world recognizes that,’’ he said. The international community had condemned the Pahalgam massacre in one voice.
Both sides exchanged heavy artillery and mortar fire across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir. Sixteen Indians were killed in the firing, including five children and three women. India라이브 바카라 defence ministry said they were forced to retaliate in kind after the civilian deaths across border villages.
India accused Pakistan of upping the ante by attacking Indian military installations with drones and missiles. New Delhi had responded to the Pahalgam attack by launching a missile strike on terrorist sites in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and Punjab. However it took care not to escalate matters by not touching Pakistan라이브 바카라 military assets. Misri repeated that India라이브 바카라 response was "focused, measured and non-escalatory."
He was accompanied by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, explaining the defence ministry's views in Hindi and English.
"On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles,’’ Vyomika Singh said. Since then the situation has further deteriorated.
After the overnight attack by Pakistan, India retaliated this morning by targeting the air defence radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan.
"The Lahore air defence system was neutralized", Col Qureshi said. India let loose a barrage of drones on Pakistani cities from the north to the south -- Lahore, Rawalpindi and all the way to Karachi.
Joint Investigation On Pahalgam Attack
Pointing to Pakistan라이브 바카라 offer for joint investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack, Misri said that India라이브 바카라 experience with joint investigation of terror attacks with Pakistan had been "unproductive".
Whether it was the Mumbai attack of 2008, or the Pathankot airbase strike in 2016, Pakistan used whatever evidence and information of phone recording handed over to the team to cover the tracks of the terrorists operating from Pakistani soil.
So a joint investigation that Pakistan bandied about around the world was of no use. But Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also said he was open to a neutral investigation by the international community. Misri did not address that point.
He spoke at length about Pakistan라이브 바카라 propaganda and its minister라이브 바카라 appearing on international channels and washing their hands of accusations of harbouring terrorists.
"There are no terrorists in Pakistan", he said sarcastically "While the whole world knows that Pakistan is the epicentre of global terrorism, not just against India but for many countries around the world.’’
He went on to say, "Pakistan was home to UN proscribed terrorists.” He spoke of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, the world라이브 바카라 most wanted terrorist hiding in Pakistan라이브 바카라 cantonment town of Abbotabad, till he was taken out of the US in a daring operation. "Who called Osama a martyr?", he asked. He was referring to former prime minister Imran Khan.
Misri denied Pakistan라이브 바카라 charge that India had killed civilians during the operation and produced a picture showing coffins draped in Pakistan라이브 바카라 national flag. "Who gives civilians a state funeral? Those killed were all terrorists", he asserted.
Meanwhile in Pakistan, Army spokesman Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry claimed that the military had "so far neutralized 12 HAROP drones at various locations.’’
These drones are long rang loitering Israeli built missiles. Chaudhry said that four army personnel were wounded and one civilian was killed in a drone attack. The number of drones downed by Pakistan was later updated to 25.
“This is a serious provocation,” Chaudhry said. “The security of the region and beyond is at risk.”
The Pakistan forces were at a high state of alert and vigilance. He also said that “India has undertaken yet another act of blatant military aggression against Pakistan.”
Tempers are high on both sides, accusations and counter charges are flying around. The situation is grim and needs to be quickly brought under control by third party mediation.
