Justice Yashwant Varma Case: In-House Committee Submits Report To CJI Sanjiv Khanna

The committee was constituted on March 22 involving Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu, Himachal High Court Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Karnataka High Court Justice Anu Sivaraman.

The three-member in-house committee constituted by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna to investigate the allegations levelled against Justice Yashwant Varma has submitted its report to the Supreme Court on May 4. The probe commenced on March 25 after a huge sum of cash was recovered from his residence. 

The committee was constituted on March 22 involving Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu, Himachal High Court Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Karnataka High Court Justice Anu Sivaraman. 

While releasing a statement on the matter, the Apex Court asserted that, "The three-member Committee consisting of Mr Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, Mr Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh and Ms Justice Anu Sivaraman, Judge of the High Court of Karnataka, constituted for conducting an inquiry into the allegations against Mr Justice Yashwant Varma, a sitting Judge, has submitted its report dated 03.05.2025 to the Chief Justice of India on 04.05.2025.”

The case was registered after unaccounted cash was recovered from his home by firefighters on the evening of March 14. Justice Varma was not present at his house when a fire broke out at his residence that led to the cash라이브 바카라 discovery. 

Allegations of corruption were levelled against Justice Varma who had denied these allegations stating it to be a conspiracy to frame him. In lieu of the allegations, Justice Varma was transferred back to the Allahabad High Court.
