Jammu was hit by drone and missile attacks late on Thursday, spreading panic in areas like Satwari, Sunjuwan, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and several adjacent places.
Reports say that drone attacks from Pakistan were foiled yet residents heard loud sounds of a blast on the ground and lightning thereafter.
There was no immediate information of damage.
Manu Srivastava, a journalist in Jammu said, he was on the rooftop of his house post dinner and could hear the sound of blasts coming from where the Jammu airport is, next to Satwari.
The airport is under the control of the Indian Army and has been closed for civil operations.
In some areas mobile phones and services were also jammed.
The markets were quickly shut down as people took shelter inside the buildings. Immediately after this, there was a complete blackout in the entire city and sirens continued to blare alerting the citizens
There have been reports of heavy shelling on the borders near Jammu and Akhnoor.
