What happened when IPL was suspended midway last time?
It was the 2021 season which had to rescheduled after getting postponed midway. The COVID-19 pandemic was still at its peak when BCCI decided it would be able to conduct the tournament in a bio-bubble environment.
The tournament started April 9 and by May it was reported that the bio-bubble of some teams had been breached. Players started turning out positive for COVID-19 and the IPL was suspended on May 4. Half the tournament was still left to be played when the suspension was announced.
By the end of May, it was announced that the rest of the tournament would be conducted in the United Arab Emirates. In July, the revised schedule was announced with Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah hosting the remaining matches.
The tournament was then successfully held in September-October in the UAE with Chennai Super Kings emerging as the champions.
